Terry Fox's dream lives on

Terry Fox envisioned raising $24.1 million, one dollar for every Canadian towards the fight against cancer by running the breadth of our country – an ambitious feat for a 21-year-old runner who had lost a leg to bone cancer just three years previous. He planned, trained and executed his cross-country odyssey on April, 1980 with a symbolic dipping of his artificial leg in the Atlantic Ocean at St. John’s, Newfoundland. As history dictates Terry’s Marathon of Hope unraveled 143 days, six provinces and 3,339 miles later when outside Thunder Bay, ON illness slowed him and a diagnosis that the cancer had spread to his lungs ended the journey, but never did it diminish the dream.

NEXUS expands to Coutts/Sweetgrass Ports of Entry
A NEXUS lane and enrolment centre have opened at the Coutts, Alberta–Sweetgrass, Montana ports-of-entry.

“The Government of Canada is proud that NEXUS is expanding at the land border in Coutts, Alberta,” said Lethbridge MP Rick Casson. “This NEXUS lane will enable both Canadians and Americans to travel quickly and securely between Canada and the United States.”
